Dayne Hiller, Surrey, charged with stealing car

Dayne Matthew Hiller, 25, Surrey, is accused of stealing a 1999 Dodge Interepid from the Moose Lodge parking lot in Minot on Saturday morning, Nov. 17. He is charged with a Class C felony in district court in Minot.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the owner of the vehicle told police that she and her cousin had met Hiller and another man at a club on Saturday night. They had then gone back to the Moose Lodge parking lot to retrieve her car. The woman had been having trouble with the vehicle and wanted to let it run for awhile before she tried to drive it. She left the car running and the door unlocked and got in her cousin’s car. They then left in the cousin’s car to drive the other man home. The vehicle’s owner told police that Hiller said he was going to call a Lyft vehicle to take him home to Surrey and was in the parking lot. When her cousin drove the woman back to the Moose parking lot, the woman’s vehicle was gone. A Ward County Deputy laer located the woman’s vehicle outside Hiller’s home in Surrey. Hiller was located and placed under arrest.

The owner of the Dodge Intrepid told police she had paid $1,500 for the vehicle.
