Two killed in 3-car collision near Williston

WILLISTON – A 24-year-old Texas man and a 45-year old California woman were killed in a three-vehicle crash near Williston that also injured two other people early Sunday morning, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

The Highway Patrol reports the Texas man, whose identity has not yet been released, was westbound, driving a Dodge Ram, on U.S. Highway 2 about eight miles west of Williston about 2 a.m. Silvia Aguirre, 45, of Ontario, Calif., was driving a GMC Sierra in which Rosa Aguayo, 45, San Bernardino, Calif., was a passenger. The GMC was traveling east on U.S. 2, followed by a Kenworth truck driven by Karl Pederson, 56, of Fairport, N.Y.

The Dodge crossed over into the eastbound lanes, prompting the driver of the GMC to move left in an attempt to avoid a head-on collision. The Dodge struck the passenger front corner of the GMC, and the Kenworth struck the Dodge with the front end.

The driver of the Dodge and GMC passenger Aguayo died at the scene. Aguirre and Pederson were transported to CHI St. Alexius in Bismarck.
