Upcoming event at the Prairie Village Museum

Homemade food with local, farm fresh products, historical buildings and displays, and new people to talk with. This is what is to be expected at the Prairie Village Museum on Aug. 25.

Starting at 7 p.m. on that Saturday, the Prairie Village Museum in Rugby is inviting people to their first annual Farm to Table Dinner event. Catered by Anamoose’s FARMtastic Heritage Food Hub, it is expected to be a fun and delicious evening.

Surrounded by all the history that the Prairie Village Museum has to offer, guests can eat, drink, and enjoy the musical entertainment that will be provided. The event is for those 21 and up. Alcohol will not be served, but guests can bring their favorite wine or beer to drink or share.

“This event is a first for us, but there are others throughout the state and we are modeling ours on other successful events,” said Stephanie Steinke, Executive Director of the museum.

They plan to continue the event each year with a different theme for the meal. The theme for this first event is Mediterranean Cuisine. With this in mind, the menu will include kebabs, homemade pita, falafel, cucumber salads, eggplant salads, bulgur wheat and tomato salad, tomatoes, and more.

The meal won’t stop at just dinner as deserts of homemade baklava is planned for guests to enjoy.

“Julia is a fantastic chef, as anyone who has visited the ship in Anamoose knows,” said Steinke. “We are excited to partner with her and her husband Mirek to do this.”

Tickets cost $65 per person. All proceeds will be going to support not only the Prairie Village Museum, but also FARMtastic Heritage Food Hub. Tickets can be purchased online at prairievillagemuseum.com, in Anamoose at the food hub, or at the museum front desk in Rugby.
