State dismisses robbery, accomplice to aggravated assault charges against Vaneica Erickson, Minot

The state has dismissed a Class B felony charge of robbery and a Class C felony charge of accomplice to aggravated assault against Vaneica Erickson, 47, of Minot, court records show.

Erickson is still scheduled to go to trial on a Class C felony charge of interference with a 911 call. The trial is scheduled to start today, according to court records.

Erickson’s son, Scott Ramon Parizek, 28, entered an Alford plea in May to a charge that he stomped on the head of a 22-year-old woman during an altercation at an apartment storage unit on Sept. 4, 2017. The state dropped a B felony charge of robbery and a Class C felony charge of interference with a 911 call against Parizek, after acknowledging that there were problems with the witnesses in the case. Parizek was ordered to serve about 18 months in prison, concurrent with a sentence he is serving on other charges.

Erickson had been accused of going to the storage unit with her son. The 22-year-old woman had claimed that the mother and son robbed her and that Parizek assaulted her and that Erickson took the phone away from her 95-year-old grandmother when her grandmother called 911. But prosecutors acknowledged in May that the grandmother cannot recall what happened. The alleged victim, now 23, has had her own problems with drug use and is facing theft charges in district court in Minot. The Minot Daily News has chosen not to identify either the alleged victim or her grandmother because the grandmother asked not to be identified. The older woman and her granddaughter told The Minot Daily News last fall that they were terrified during the incident. The young woman and her grandmother are related to a relative of Erickson and her son. Both Erickson and Parizek have past drug-related convictions.

Erickson has vehemently maintained her innocence of the charges in the case and said she would never have done what the state accused her of doing.
