Parking ramps prove structurally sound

File Photo The Renaissance parking ramp is shown last spring after the City of Minot took over its operation from the developer.

Minot’s parking ramps don’t appear to have any major structural issues, according to engineers who analyzed the structures for the city.

City Manager Tom Barry told the Minot City Council Monday that the main concern is the lack of a permanent roof on the Renaissance and Central parking structures. Holes in the top level have been plugged and the temporary roof over the stairway and elevator shaft has been repaired.

The Minot City Council voted March 15 to end its relationship with the ramp developer, Cypress Development. It called in loans that were at $1.77 million with interest at the time and sued the developer to recover costs.

Cypress Development has asked for a change of venue in the case to Bismarck. The judge has yet to act on the request.
