Coby Edwards, Skylar Picconatto charged with GSI
Coby John Edwards, 26, and Skylar Lorraine Picconatto, 20, both Berthold, are each charged with gross sexual imposition in a case involving a girl under the age of 15 between 2016 and 2018.
Edwards is charged with gross sexual imposition, a Class AA felony, and Picconatto is charged with Class A felony gross sexual imposition.
According to the complaint, Edwards engaged in a sexual act with a girl under 15 when he was older than 22. Picconatto allegedly performed a sexual act on a girl when the girl was under 15.
A probable cause affidavit in the case has been sealed and no further information is available. Both Edwards and Picconatto were scheduled to make an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Friday before Judge Doug Mattson.
Mattson set bond at $200,000 for Edwards during his initial appearance on Friday and ordered Edwards to have no contact with any children under age 18.
Tom Slorby, who represented Edwards at the bond hearing, said both Edwards and Piocconatto are life-long residents of Ward County and have extended family here. Slorby said they are no threat to the community. Edwards has four children under age 5, Slorby told the judge, including a newborn, and Picconatto’s children are under age 2. Slorby said he believes the children are with family.
Ward County State’s Attorney Roza Larson told Mattson that Edwards and Piocconatto are a danger to the community.
Mattson followed the state’s bond recommendation.
