Minot, Ward libraries kick off Summer Reading Program

Children were able to learn and have fun as they sat to watch the one-of-a-kind musical put on by the Pangea House Players (from the left Kat Kirschmann, Kalib Kliniske, and Jazmine Wolff Schultz) during the Summer Reading Kickoff Party at the Minot Municipal Auditorium on Monday. Even the live band performing with the actors got into character as they put on masks with the villian. Shyanne Belzer/MDN

With school over and the summer heating up, the Minot Public Library and Ward County Public Library are kicking off their summer events and summer reading.

On Monday, the two libraries held a Summer Reading Kickoff Party in the Minot Municipal Auditorium where they offered a fun way to show why libraries rocked.

The event hosted a one-of-a-kind musical done by the Pangea House Players, a dance party and a variety of hands-on fun for all ages of children who attended. They also had sign ups available for those who want to participate in the children, teen or adult Summer Reading Programs that each library offers.

Along with the sign up and performance, a variety of different booths were there with items for the kids. Booth participants included the Souris Valley Animal Shelter, the Sabre Dogs and the police department. A green screen was set up for unique photos to be taken of the children attending.
