Turtle Mountain Reservation to receive $1M for water infrastructure
BELCOURT – The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa Reservation has been awarded $1 million in federal funds to improve and rebuild its water system so it delivers clean water to those living on the reservation.
Senators Heidi Heitkamp and John Hoeven announced the grant funds on Friday.
The funds will support the replacement of the reservation’s water mains, which are currently too small to adequately supply the residents and are at risk of potential contamination when under low pressure.
The funds are through the U.S. Department of Agriculture Rural Development Water and Waste Water Grants program.
