Meth dealer sentenced

A 22-year-old Mohall man will serve about 18 months in prison for delivery of methamphetamine in August 2017.

Zachary Wayne Berry pleaded guilty to two counts of delivery of meth in district court in Minot on May 23. Judge Todd Cresap sentenced him to three years in prison for each count, with a requirement that he first serve 18 months, and two years of supervised probation. He was ordered to pay $2,250 in court costs and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation.

Berry sold one-fourth of an ounce of meth for $400 to a confidential informant working with the Ward County Narcotics Task Force in Minot on Aug. 21, 2017, and he sold one-fourth of an ounce of meth for $500 to the confidential informant in Minot on Aug. 22, 2017, according to court documents. The sentences are concurrent.

In a separate case, he pleaded guilty to a charge of conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance, dating back to Aug. 30, 2017, and was sentenced to three years, with a requirement that he serve 18 months, followed by two years of supervised probation. That sentence is concurrent with the sentences in the first case. He was ordered to pay $1,950 in court costs in that case.
