Hearing on US Highway 85 project set for Thursday

WATFORD CITY – A public hearing will be held Thursday, May 31, in City Hall in Watford City to discuss the draft environmental impact statement for the proposed U.S. Highway 85 project.

The hearing will use an open house format beginning at 5 p.m., with formal presentations beginning at 5:30 p.m.

The project would expand Highway 85 to four lanes from the Interstate 94 interchange to the Watford City Bypass (McKenzie County Road 30).

The hearing is an opportunity for public input. Representatives from the North Dakota Department of Transportation, Federal Highway Administration and KLJ will be available to answer questions.

Other hearings will be held this week in Belfield and Fairfield.

Those unable to attend the public hearings, can send written statements or comments by June 25 to: Matt Linneman, Project Manager, NDDOT, 300 Airport Road, Bismarck, ND 58504-6005. Comments can also be emailed to: DOTUS85@nd.gov with “Public Hearing” in the e-mail subject heading.

The draft environmental impact statement is available for public review at the NDDOT project website: dot.nd.gov/projects/williston/US85I94/.
