A 29-year-old Minot woman is accused of striking a male Ward County Jail correctional officer across the face when she was being escorted to a cell on Sunday.

Margret Millian Diallo Couch is charged with simple assault on a peace officer, a Class C felony, in district court in Minot.

Diallo Couch had been arrested on suspicion of driving while under intoxication. She pleaded guilty to that Class B misdemeanor charge on Monday in Minot Muncipal Court and was ordered to pay $775 in court costs, attend a victim impact panel and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation. She was sentenced to five days in jail, with three days suspended, and given credit for two days served, according to court records.
