Minot man sentenced for child porn offenses

A 26-year-old Minot man will serve about four years in prison for child pornography offenses, according to court records.

Bryan A. Cordero-Rodriguez pleaded guilty in October 2017 to promoting an obscene performance by a minor, a Class A felony, and possession of child pornography, a Class C felony. On Tuesday, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison for the A felony, with a requirement he serve four years, followed by three years of supervised probation. He will receive credit for 342 days already served in prison. He was sentenced to four years in prison for the C felony, concurrent with the first sentence. North Central District Court Judge Richard Hagar also ordered that Cordero-Rodriguez register as a sex offender and complete sex offender treatment.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Cordero-Rodriguez downloaded child pornography from the internet using the BitTorrent P2P file sharing network between June 2015 and February 2017. The North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation investigated. Cordero-Rodriguez’s residence at 1459 34th Avenue Southeast was searched. When he was interviewed by officers, Cordero-Rodriguez admitted to viewing child porn and distributing child porn images and videos to other users online. He told the officers he has searched, viewed and downloaded images of girls between the ages of 1 and 17 and that he looked at child porn and videos about once a week.
