BNSF tracks reopen near Karlsruhe

KARLSRUHE – Tracks reopened and service resumed shortly after noon Tuesday following a derailment Monday of 19 cars of a westbound BNSF loaded grain train about one mile northwest of Karlsruhe.

Amy McBeth, Minneapolis, BNSF public relations director for this region, said the derailment occurred Monday at 5 a.m. She said there were no injuries in the incident. The train was carrying soybeans.

“Crews worked yesterday and through the night to clear the cars and make repairs to the track,” McBeth said Tuesday. She said the crews worked in extreme winter conditions as they responded and made the repairs. She said they took extra precautions with the weather to work safely.

McBeth said the train had 112 loaded cars and three locomotives.
