Art that warms more than just the heart
Quilting is an ancient skill that goes back as far as Egypt and ancient China. It was brought to the US in the 18th century and grew. As American’s were exploring the West, women gathered together to back up barn raisings by joining in quilting bees. Eventually patchwork quilts became America’s folk art.
The Minot Prarie Quilt Guild is displaying some of the quilts at the Minot Public Library for the month of Feb. The library will house a variety of different quilts throughout the building for guests to see. They also offer a large variety of books on quilting for those who want to know more to read and enjoy.
The display is free and open to the public. The Minot Public Library is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mon. through Thurs., 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Fri, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sat., and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sun.
