Man charged with reckless endangerment

A 34-year-old Minot man is accused of grabbing the steering wheel of a vehicle his pregnant wife was driving early Monday morning and causing her to lose control and drive into a metal stake.

Travis Allen Patterson is charged with reckless endangerment, a Class C felony carrying a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a $10,000 fine. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Tuesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Patterson and his wife admitted to striking each other during an argument. The woman was driving the vehicle in the 600 block of the Highway 83 bypass when she lost control, drove into a ditch and struck a metal pole. Neither Patterson or his wife suffered injuries in the accident. The woman later called police to a northwest Minot address to report a domestic altercation.
