Minot AFB B-52s, personnel deploy to England

MINOT AIR FORCE BASE – A contingency of B-52 bombers and airmen along with support equipment from Minot Air Force Base are in England for training.

Last week about 300 airmen and four B-52 bombers along with support equipment deployed from Minot AFB to Royal Air Force Fairford in England. according to Air Force officials. There the bombers and personnel will take part in training with joint partners, allied nations and other U.S. Air Force units.

The group will return to the Minot base later this month.

A number of Minot AFB bombers and personnel are deployed to the Middle East.

Currently, the 69th Bomb Squadron at Minot Air Force Base is in the Middle East in the fight against ISIS. They will return to Minot AFB in the April timeframe. The Minot base’s other bomb squadron, the 23rd, returned from its Middle East deployment later this past year.

Minot AFB units and B-52s normally have rotated with Barksdale AFB in Louisiana as part of Air Force’s Continuous Bomber Presence in the Pacific but are not participating at the present time due to the Middle East deployments. On Tuesday, Pacific Air Forces announced B-52s and personnel from Barksdale AFB will be replacing B-1s from Ellsworth AFB, S.D., for the routine Continuous Bomber Presence mission to Andersen AFB, Guam.

On a routine basis Minot AFB deploys people to the Minot missile field as well as around the globe.
