Enrichment for animals

Submitted Photo Some of the participants in the Zoo Explorers class Saturday hold wind chimes that they made with large spoons and PVC pipe and their other three-dimensional art that will be used as enrichment for the animals at Roosevelt Park Zoo. Zookeepers can place treats on the spoons for the animals or add tree branches. The goal of enrichment is to encourage animals to use their natural abilities, promote species-appropriate behaviors and offer a sense of control of their environment by allowing them to make choices and have new experiences.
