Auction benefits Minot AFB service members, families

This year’s Prairie Warrior Association Auction, an event benefiting Minot Air Force Base programs and other activities, is set for Saturday, March 3, at the Minot Holiday Inn-Riverside.

The evening includes live and silent auctions. Preview of merchandise begins at 5:30 p.m., with refreshments and hors d’oeuvres served. The live auction with auctioneer John Bearman of Minot begins at 6:30 p.m.

The auction is sponsored by the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee.

Now in its 32nd year, through the years the auction has raised nearly $650,000 for Minot AFB. Funds distributed are used to support the base’s competition teams, squadron activities, annual awards banquets and Operation Warmheart, a yearround program providing food, clothing and other essentials to needy service members and their families, as well as Thanksgiving baskets during the holiday season.

Deadline for items donated

The deadline for submitting items to the auction is Feb. 23. Items can be dropped off at the Chamber office weekdays.

Businesses, organizations and individuals who do not have an item to donate, can donate cash. The money will be pooled with other money to purchase larger ticket items or placed toward the total dollar contribution to the base.

For more information contact the Chamber at 852-6000, Tom Rafferty at 852-0406 or 720-0126, or Doug Hollingsworth at 240-9259. Rafferty and Hollingsworth are co-chairs of the auction.
