Tribal college receives grant for workforce development
BELCOURT – A $500,000 grant has been awarded to Turtle Mountain Community College in Belcourt for commercial vehicle operations and welding programs, the North Dakota Department of Commerce announced Thursday.
The North Dakota Legislature authorized $500,000 in workforce development grants for tribally controlled community colleges. The grants support degree- or certificate-granting programs that qualify students to earn highly recruited jobs in the state. They also provide assistance to students to establish new businesses operating within North Dakota that will employ North Dakotans.
The Department of Commerce administers the grants through an application process.
