Unique, glowing family fun
The Putt District at 17 South Main Street, Suite A, will open Friday for the public to enjoy. The owners of The Putt District brought a fun, unique twist to their indoor minigolf course.
Eric Thoemke, one of the many owners who have been working to bring the mini-golf course to Minot, said he wanted to invest in something cool for the community, so when another one of the owners pitched this idea, he and another jumped on board.
“It’s such a cool thing to bring to Minot. It’s one of a kind. There is one similar to it in Dickinson, but it isn’t as big and nothing like The Putt District. The closest thing to it is probably in Minneapolis,” Thoemke said.
With 14 different holes currently, and four more to be added later, the mini-golf is designed to keep players interested and entertained with the fun, color popping art and a relaxing game of mini-golf. Along with the course, The Putt District also offers a variety of arcade games with hopes to get more classics such as Dig Dug. Before or after a game, guests can go to the club house to sit, relax, visit, and eat pizza provided by Papa John’s.
“We really wanted to bring a family fun place to the downtown area and we plan to do a lot of things for customers. We will hold tournaments, different events, and a street art event. Art is extremely important to us and our business,” Thoemke said.
On opening day, they will hold a red ribbon cutting at 6 p.m. to open their doors for customers to start putting along the artistic, glowing courses. Prices are still being finalized but are planned to be for around $8 or $9 for adults, around $6 for kids three years old to 12 years old, and around $7 for students, seniors, or military. Since they are just opening, these prices might change over time, but they want to give a decently priced family fun experience for customers. They will also offer birthday party packages.
Once The Putt District opens, it will be open all week. Mondays through Thursdays the courses will open from 2 to 10 p.m. On Fridays, the business will open at the same time, but will remain open until midnight. On Saturdays, the courses will be open from 9 a.m. until midnight and Sundays will be noon to 6 p.m.
The owners are eager to open their doors for the public to see and experience a new, fun glow-in-the-dark mini-golf course that can be played all year round since it is indoors.
