NDSU extension in Minot brings a parenting class
The NDSU Extenstion Center in Minot will present a video and discussion based class that addresses situations and challenges that are expected when raising a 5- to 12-year-old child.
It will take place on November 7, 14, 21, and 28 as well as December 5 and 12 at 6 p.m. at the NDSU center just outside of town.
“We like to talk to parents about raising a child and how they have never raised this specific child during these years. Each child is different and will act differently. The classes are meant to be a tool for the parent’s tool box,” Holly Arnold, who works at the Parent and Family Resource Center, said.
The class will discuss skills to use and what to possibly expect from a child in this age range. They will use proven tactics that have evidence demonstrating they work. It also allows parents to meet other parents and to hopefully have fun learning.
The center also offers other classes for different age groups. Arnold says they offer classes from prenatal all the way to teenagers. She likes to offer a variety of classes throughout the year to give parents tools.
