2017 Dancing For Special Stars winning couple
Special Olympics fundraiser patterned after “Dancing with the Stars”
GRAND FORKS — Stephanie Ness and Tom Barry were presented the “Mirror Ball Trophy” in front of an audience at the 3rd Annual Dancing for Special Stars event held at the Ann Nicole Nelson Hall Center on Wednesday October 11. Ten couples participated in the event which raised money to support children and adults with intellectual disabilities that participate in Special Olympics North Dakota. The event paired local celebrities and dance instructors in a contest patterned after the popular “Dancing with the Stars” television program.
Special Olympics North Dakota is a private, non-profit organization that provides year-round physical fitness, sports training, and competition in 15 sports to children and adults with intellectual disabilities. All activities are provided free of charge to the participants and their families. More than 1,600 athletes, 5,000 volunteers take part throughout the state of North Dakota.
