Fort Mandan candlelight tour
Fort Mandan will host a candlelight tour on Saturday, September 23rd at 8:00 PM. During this free event, Fort Mandan will be lit with beeswax candles and oil lamps like those that the Lewis & Clark Expedition would have used during their stay in 1804-1805.
In order to experience the fort in darkness, the tour will be held after the Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan Visitors Center close at 5:00 p.m. Beginning at 8:00 p.m. interested visitors are encouraged to make their way directly to Fort Mandan where guides will meet them and escort them through Lewis & Clark’s winter home.
The Lewis & Clark Interpretive Center is located at the intersection of US Highway 83 and ND 200A in Washburn. Fort Mandan is located 2 miles west of the Interpretive Center on McLean County 17.
