Woman charged with stealing iPhone, credit cards

A 36-year-old Minot Air Force Base woman is accused of stealing an iPhone and a case containing credit cards, debit cards and other personal documents from Dollar Tree on North Hill on June 8, 2016.

Yah’mika Keant’a Humphries is charged with theft of property, a Class C felony, and theft of property, a Class A misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the alleged victim told police that Humphries had been in the store and was seen on store video stealing the phone and case. The case and credit cards were located on June 9, 2016, but the iPhone was still missing. The alleged victim called police in September and reported that Humphries had been in the store again and she recognized her as the woman who stole the items. Humphries allegedly admitted to police that she took the items and said she threw the phone and case into a trash can at a Cenex gas station.

Humphries made an initial appearance on the charge in district court in Minot on Monday.

She could face up to six years in prison if convicted of both charges.
