Governor, chairman to speak at traveling Vietnam memorial

NEW TOWN – North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum and Mandan Hidatsa Arikara Nation Chairman Mark N. Fox will be speaking on Friday at the opening for the traveling Vietnam memorial called: The Wall that Heals.

The opening event will begin Friday at 10 a.m. at the Event Center at the 4 Bears Casino & Lodge, west of New Town.

MHA tribal members and Vietnam veterans Austin Gillette and Bruce Nagel will also be speaking at the event. Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9061, Beck/Sherven Post 290, Young Hawk-Bear Post 253 and Myron B. Johnson/ Nathan Good Iron Post 271 will also be present.

The Wall that Heals is a traveling exhibition that features a half-scale replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C. It is approximately 250 feet in length and shaped like the original.
