Repp makes court appearance in possession of stolen property case

As much as $100,000 in property might have been taken from Tom’s Coin Shop in Minot on Feb. 25.

On Thursday Timothy Gene Repp, 27, who is accused of being in possession of some of the loot, made an appearance in district court in Minot.

Judge Gary Lee said he wasn’t comfortable accepting a plea deal in the case and said someone from the state’s attorney’s office should sit down with the owner of the coin shop and come up with a firm list of the value of what was taken and what was recovered.

Repp’s attorney, Eric Baumann, pointed out that Repp is charged with possession of stolen property, but not burglary, and asked to have his bond lowered.

Lee said the bond of $2,500 was relatively low for the felonies that Repp is facing and let the bond amount stand.

Another man identified in the incident is David Ellis Pejrano-Knutz.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, two men are seen on surveillance video entering and exiting Tom’s Coin Shop on Feb. 25 at about 4:03 a.m. and then returning at 5:51 a.m.

Police recovered some of the property stolen during the burglary in Pejrano-Knutz’s Mazda on March 1. Pejrano-Knutz reportedly ran from police, into an apartment, and escaped out a window. Pejrano-Knutz was later caught in the 500 block of 2nd Avenue NW, two blocks from Repp’s residence. Police had earlier been informed that the vehicle used during the coin shop burglary was often near Repp’s residence.

The same car was seen outside the High Air Ground Trampoline Park on March 1 at the time of a theft there. Repp was later identified as the suspected thief who stole a grey UnderArmour jacket with a Minot State University logo, along with a wallet and a cell phone inside the jacket, walked out of the business and then drove away in a white Mitsubishi.

Police obtained a search warrant for Repp’s car and found the jacket and its contents, along with a backpack containing collector’s coins. Inside the vehicle was jewelry taken during the coin shop burglary.

The value of the property recovered from Repp that was stolen from the coin shop was $22,255.

The jacket stolen was valued at approximately $200, while the cell phone was valued at $700. The stolen wallet had approximately $50 in it. Repp is charged with theft of property, a Class A misdemeanor, for the stolen jacket.

Repp has an extensive criminal history out of Michigan, with theft and drug-related charges, based on a statement made at a previous hearing.

Pejrano-Knutz is separately charged with theft of property and possession of a controlled substance, both Class C felonies.
