BERTHOLD – The Berthold community will honor Berthold veterans on Monday, Memorial Day, with the dedication of the Veterans Memorial Area. The area is located next to Berthold City Hall.

A program will begin at 1 p.m. with the Berthold Color Guard, Minot Air Force Base Honor Guard and other special guests. People are urged to bring lawn chairs for seating.

Chris Burnside of the Berthold N.D. Cares Committee said the Veterans memorial Area includes a veterans monument, benches and and flagpoles with flags to honor veterans. Businesses and organizations have donated to the project.

An ice cream social will follow the program. Everyone is welcome to attend the program and ice cream social.

The N.D. Cares initiative was started by former Gov. Jack Dalrymple and is to strengthen the network of support for service members, families and survivors. The initiative is being continued by Gov. Doug Burgum’s administration.
