Man charged with climbing fence and smashing parked cars

A 22-year-old Voltaire man is charged with breaking into multiple vehicles and trespassing at Jessen Roofing in Minot on Tuesday night.

Robert Lee Christianson made an initial appearance in district court in Minot on Wednesday.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Christianson broke out windows and did damage to several vehicles parked in the Jessen Roofing lot that belonged to employees and to the business itself. He told police he had a fight with his significant other and went for a walk. He climbed over a fence to get into the property and then started breaking windows and damaging vehicles with a metal pipe and a hatchet. He said he did this to relieve his anger.

Christianson also told police he had used a significant amount of methamphetamine and mushrooms earlier on Tuesday. Police had him checked out at the hospital before they booked him into the jail.
