Steven Norrie, Burlington, charged with misdemeanor unlawful presence of sexual offender near a school

A 64-year-old Burlington man is accused of violating a state law forbidding sex offenders from being on school property without permission.

According to court documents, Steven Norrie was working on a roofing project at the Berthold School in July 2016. He was employed by Tecta America, also known as Greenberg Roofing, at the time.

Norrie is required to register as a sex offender in the state until Feb. 16, 2022. He pleaded guilty to a charge of luring minors by computer.

Norrie is scheduled to make an initial appearance on the Class A misdemeanor charge against him today in district court in Minot.

A Class A misdemeanor carries a maximum sentence of one year in jail.
