Safety meeting in prep for ramp up in oil activity

BISMARCK – The North Dakota Petroleum Council will hold its annual safety meeting on Monday in Bismarck in conjunction with the North Dakota Safety Council’s Safety and Health Conference. The meeting will review current injury and fatality statistics and update best practices for the oil and gas industry.

“With the ramp up of increased activity, many companies are starting to hire again,” said Kari Cutting, vice president of the North Dakota Petroleum Council. “We anticipate that many new and inexperienced employees will join the workforce, and we in the industry want to be prepared and ready to ensure their safety and the safety and integrity of our operations.”

The safety meeting will include presentations from Bryan Klipfel and Jim Ash of Workforce Safety and Insurance; Eric Brooks of OSHA; Chuck Clairmont of the ND Safety Council; and a panel on safety training in the oil and gas industry.
