Man arrested for reckless endangerment after report of six shots fired in alleyway
A 26-year-old Minot man was arrested early Saturday after six gunshots were reportedly fired in an alleyway in the 100 block of West Central Avenue downtown.
Deangol Lamar Simmons is charged with reckless endangerment and felon in possession of a firearm, according to a press release issued by the Minot Police Department. He is being held in the Ward County Jail pending an initial appearance in district court in Minot.
According to police, Simmons entered a nearby establishment and discarded a handgun after the shots were fired. He was taken into custody without incident. The gun was located inside the establishment and turned over to police.
No one was injured during the incident, which happened at 12:50 a.m.
The shooting happened in the same general area as a deadly shooting that occurred in November 2015. Johnny Norwood is scheduled to go to trial on the murder charge later this spring. Roger Falana was killed and a 43-year-old woman was injured and multiple shots were fired in an alleyway. That incident originated in the Ice Cold Ryders motorcycle club’s clubhouse, which is located on West Central Avenue.
