Dakota Boles sentenced for using stolen credit card
A 20-year-old Minot man was sentenced to prison time on a charge that he used a stolen credit card to make unauthorized purchases at Walmart in May.
Dakota Samuel Boles pleaded guilty to theft, a Class C felony, and unauthorized use of personal identifying information, a Class C felony. Judge Doug Mattson sentenced him to five years in prison, concurrent with his sentences on other charges. Boles is currently serving five years for possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, burglary, possession of stolen property and bail jumping.
Vincent Musi, 26, his co-defendant in the case, pleaded guilty in November and received a five year suspended sentence of five years of probation. Musi is serving an eight year prison sentence for robbing several Minot businesses at knifepoint last May. He was also sentenced to a concurrent five year prison sentence for trying to escape from the Ward County Jail last July.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Musi and Boles used credit cards that were in a wallet stolen from a car in northwest Minot on May 13, 2016. The two men used the stolen credit card to purchase two $200 gift cards.
Security footage showed the two men in Walmart swiping the card on May 13, 2016.
