Food and fun for airmen, community
MINOT AIR FORCE BASE – Hundreds of airmen and community members will come together on Sunday at Minot Air Force Base for the 52nd annual Team Minot Sportsmen’s Feed.
The event, a time for good food and good fun, will be held in the base’s Jimmy Doolittle Center.
During the afternoon participants can watch football and play games of chance, have some appetizers and then enjoy a dinner of sportsmen’s specialties including walleye, venison, pheasant, duck and turkey with all the trimmings.
The annual Sportsmen’s Feed is an activity of the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce’s Military Affairs Committee.
The event started more than 50 years ago when the late S.L. “Bud” Olsen, executive vice president of the Chamber, and the late Kenton Bischke, a Chamber member, pilot and spraying service operator, came up with the idea to hold a wild game dinner for enlisted military members. That first dinner was a small event. Now a tradition at Minot AFB, it has grown to what it is today – an event attended by many.
Many volunteers donate their time to each year’s event to help make it a success.
