Another weekend, more events to attend
While the summer may be ending, the events filling the weekend for those in Minot and the area are not. Events being held this weekend, Friday through Sunday, include an expo, roller derby, movies, and art. Every day of the weekend includes something to enjoy the weekend.
Kicking off the weekend of events at 9:30 a.m. today is the Scheels Hunting Expo. Taking place in the parking lot outside of Scheels, there will be a dog jumping competition presented by Garmin and dockdogs as well as prizes from Browning, Vortex Optics and Leatherman.
The event will run until 8 p.m. and start up again on Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
With the weather beginning to cool, now is a time to go out and enjoy the nice evening weather. To give people an event to do so, the Minot Park District is hosting another Movie in the Park at 9:30 p.m. tonight.
Blankets, lawn chairs, and groups are all welcome to this showing of the new “Jumanji” movie. A free event, it is fun for friends and family of all ages to enjoy.
Get ready for a knock-out of a time Saturday night as the Minot Roller Derby team, the Nodak Knockouts, take the rink against Scarlet Fever from Brandon, Manitoba.
The derby begins at 7 p.m. at the North Dakota State Fair Center, but tickets are already on sale for a discounted price at Souris River Brewing, from a skater, or online at mouseriverrollers.com.
If the roller derby isn’t your thing, those 21 and over can head to Elevation on Saturday for some food and drinks while listening to ’90s alternative band Captain Geech and rock ‘n’ roll band Hairball perform live at the 3rd Annual Rockin the Lot. The link to purchase tickets, which are $24, is on the Rockin the Lot Facebook page.
