Magic City Campus is putting on The Addams Family Musical

In this fun, new story about the gothic Addams Family, Wednesday Addams has fallen in love with a boy from a respectable family. When she tells her father, she begs him not to tell her mother, forcing Gomez Addams to keep a secret from his wife, Morticia. Then everything changes when the family hosts a dinner party where they will meet Wednesday’s “normal” boyfriend and his family.

The play will be performed by Magic City students tonight at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Arvel Graving Theater at Magic City Campus. Director Kena Davidson has been waiting eagerly for this musical to debut.

“I have always wanted to be in it! The past five years, it was never selected so I decided if I cannot be in it, I would like to direct it,” Davidson said.

She talked highly of the students that will be performing, saying their dedication is very impressive. With good music, fun costumes, and a very stylized choreography, she says they love the play, and she hopes the audience will too.

“The Addams Family gears towards all age groups, but especially the older age group since it was a TV series first, then a movie, which targets my age group, then a musical that was published less than a decade ago,” Davidson said.

The play was temporarily postponed due to unforeseen conflicts, but everyone involved is eager to perform the play for the public to see.

Tickets for the play can either be purchased in advance at Artmain on Main Street or at the theater on the day of the play. Adults will cost $10, seniors $9, and students 18 and under will cost $8.
