Local Christmas shopping opportunities this weekend

With the first of December here, Christmas is almost upon us and that means shopping for presents has really begun.

A lot of people started checking off their lists last weekend over Black Friday, but a few more unique options are coming to town for people to get special gifts at the flea market and at bazaars.

Minot Flea Market

Starting off the Saturday shopping events, the Minot Flea Market will be opening its doors at 8 a.m. at the North Dakota State Fair Event Center. This will be their last show of the year. They always have a large variety of vendors for shoppers to go to, with, as they say, treasures a-plenty. They will have people selling furniture, coins, hair accessories, food, antiques, re-purposed items, toys, clothes both new and used, purses, knives, jewelry, and so much more. The Minot Flea Market would make a good first stop on Saturday shopping with, hopefully, something for everyone. It will be open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday and then 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.

5th Annual Countdown to Christmas Bazaar

At 9 a.m. the 5th Annual Countdown to Christmas Bazaar will be opening. This bazaar will take place at the North Dakota State Fair Center in the 4-H Hall. Shopping at this event will be a good way to support local small businesses and handmade crafters. The event will have over 100 booths with the goal of offering something for everyone. The bazaar will be selling home decor, candles, infant and children’s items, soups, a large variety of clothing boutiques, nutrition products, handmade crafts, make-up, and so much more.

Along with the 5th Annual Countdown to Christmas Bazaar, there will be a bake sale. The funds will go to help children in need with Christmas presents. Since the bazaar is free admission, they will also be accepting donations. It will be open Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m.

The “Holy Big One” Christmas Bazaar

On Saturday only, opening at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Faith United Methodist Church will be hosting its The “Holy Big One” Christmas Bazaar at their church at 5900 Highway 83 North. A smaller show than the other two, it will be a good opportunity to support locals. They will be offering Christmas quilts, wreaths, centerpieces, and more. They will be holding a cookie walk and a silent auction as well.

It’s easy to go to the mall at any time in the next few weeks, and ordering online is open all day, every day, but these local bazaars and flea market only come once a month or once a year. They will be offering unique gifts, some handmade, that might not be found anywhere else.
