Busy weekend for kids, families in Minot

As the weekend begins, families will have a lot of options for things to do all weekend. There are a few family things and a few age range activities, so every member can have an activity.

Friday, families who want a fun, hands-on activity for their kids, the Roosevelt Park Zoo will be hosting a Take and Play along side Magic City Discovery Center at 1 p.m. in Zoo Auditorium. The activities are for children birth to age 10 and hands on. It is free to participate in the classroom. The event will allow those who participate to sign up to win a family pass to the Magic City Discovery Center.

At around 10 a.m. Saturday, the Dakota Square Mall will be holding a variety of fun activities as they welcome some princesses, such as Belle, Cinderella, and Moana, as well as Batman to the mall. A free family event, they will be doing photo booth, face painting, animal balloons, games, and glitter tattoos. While supplies last, they will be giving away tiaras and capes as prizes for a scavenger hunt. The fun will take place at Center Court at the mall.

A fun activity for all ages of kids, but especially the younger ones, is story time at Main Street Books. The reading will start at 10:30 a.m., followed by a fun activity. Children of all ages are welcome and the story time happens every Saturday, so if it’s a hit with the children, they can go again next Saturday.

For a fun, all family event, the Taube Museum is holding a Family Paint Day at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Wendy Kimble will guide your family through step by step in recreating the featured painting. It’s a fun activity for parents and children that are six and up. There are limited spots, so call 838-4445 to reserve your family’s place. The cost is $15 per person for nonmembers and $12 per person for members. If you miss out on this months fun family painting class, there will be another on November 11.

Don’t worry though. Not all the events are for the children. A fun adult activity offered this weekend will be Color Me Happy Adult Coloring Club at the Minot Public Library. A relaxing activity, the coloring will start at 1 p.m. Saturday and is free. Coloring isn’t just for children and can have a good effect on those who do it. Many people say that adult coloring can promote self-esteem and reduce anxiety.

All weekend there will also be a book sale at the Minot Public Library for any books worms interested. On Sunday they are doing a bag sale where you can fill a bag with anything you want and only pay $3.

No matter what size your family is or what age range is a part of it, there is a lot of fun activities to go to outside the house. All are indoors too, so whether the weather is nice or dreary, they will go on.
