As the Minot City Band approaches their 96th season, current band members are glowing with optimism about a new year with extraordinary possibilities.

From saluting service members and military veterans at Roosevelt Park to marching in style in the State Fair Parade, the Minot City Band is looking forward to featuring show-stopping music and praiseworthy performances.

Before their summer season kicks off, the Minot City Band is inviting musicians to audition for coveted spots.

Joe Alme, the director of the Minot City Band, encourages prospective musicians to embrace a fun challenge that could lead to an exciting summer of musical opportunities.

“When someone new enters the band room, they’ll be totally blown away by the band’s musicianship,” Alme said. “They’ll also be surrounded by a group of really nice people and they’ll want to play.”

The first rehearsal and audition will take place Wednesday at 7:15 p.m., inside the band room at Minot High School Magic City Campus.

Musicians from all sections including woodwind, brass and percussion are welcomed to audition.
