Scheels hosts largest fishing event

Considered a holiday to to fishing enthusiast across the state, Fish Fest is returning to Minot today through Saturday, at the Scheels parking lot located at Dakota Square Mall.

Throughout the fishing festivities, visitors can enjoy the smoky aroma of grilled brats while exploring rows of tents containing the latest gadgets and fishing gear for the season.

Today, from 10 a.m.- 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.- 6 p.m., patrons have the opportunity to learn from pro-fisherman Zach Axtman, Johnnie Candle and Jason Mitchell.

Will Robertson, the event coordinator at Scheels in Minot, expressed overwhelming excitement for Fish Fest 2017.

“Fish Fest is awesome,” Robertson said. “We have vendors coming from all over the country to celebrate the season and celebrate fishing. Fish Fest is just a great community event.”

In addition to providing a feast for the eyes, Fish Fest will showcase the biggest brands along with the most trusted names in fishing.

“This is our biggest sale of the spring and there will be deals on everything,” Robertson said. “Lucas Oil, Traeger Grills and WingIt are some of the awesome vendors here. We’re going to have great vendors ranging from big names to your mom and pops here.”

During the spring celebration, patrons can visit the 65 foot Berkley Experience trailer, which tours the U.S. and provides educational tips to anglers.
