For gospel rap sensation Tru-Serva, touring is more than putting on a great show, it’s an opportunity to uplift communities by sharing the ministry of Jesus Christ.

Tonight at The Rock, the Minnesota rap artist will perform popular hits from his celebrated album “The Surrender of Sound,” along with a set of newly released singles.

Known for blending elements of folk, gospel, hip-hop and pop, Tru-Serva’s passion for music has attracted listeners throughout the Upper-Midwest.

“I’ve always enjoyed different genres of music,” Tru-Serva said. “Growing up, hip-hop was my top priority but I like a little bit of everything.”

In the hit song “Tonight,” the Louisiana native displays his lyrical prowess by capturing the ongoing hopelessness presented in a material world before describing the power experienced by faith.

“I always try to approach my music with grace,” Tru-Serva said. “We all need the Lord’s grace on a daily basis.”

Layered with a melodically driven piano paired with the harmonious strumming of an acoustic guitar, the steady cadence of the drum reverberates the ongoing battle for people to discover their life’s calling while holding on to earthly values and possessions.

“‘Tonight’ is about finding your purpose,” Tru-Serva said. “The Bible says that when Jesus came down to earth 2,000 years ago, I came so that you can have life and have it to the fullest. Jesus is the only one who can satisfy us with a complete life. No matter how many good things people do, they’re still not satisfied unless they’re are doing them for him.”
