After two sold-out shows, the third annual Community Rocks concert returns to Minot at The Grand Hotel, Saturday, Feb. 4 starting at 6 p.m.

This year’s event will benefit the Roosevelt Park zoo while highlighting musical talents of Minot-area performers.

Throughout the show, audiences will be entertained by a 30-piece string orchestra featuring a drum set, bass guitar, and a horn section.

Erik Anderson, chair and professor within the Minot State University Division of Music, will conduct the Community Rocks Symphony as they play popular hits from Prince, Journey, Blink 182 and various other artists.

Performing lead vocals will be Melissa Spelchen, assistant professor of criminal justice at MSU.

Co-founded by Erik Anderson and Andy Bertsch, management professor at MSU, this event is a local initiative to bring musical talent together in an effort to benefit the community.

The orchestra consists of local string, brass, and wind players, plus trap set and electric bass.

In addition to music, a silent and live auction will be held.

Tickets range from $45-$60, and can be purchased at Budget Music, Classic Rock Coffee, and Jacobson Music.
