First Western Bank & Trust promotes five

First Western Bank & Trust announced several promotions last week.

Tim Mihalick has been promoted to senior vice president of business development and facilities. He will lead business development, oversee facilities & maintenance and leasing space in First Western’s buildings. Mihalick graduated from Minot State University with a degree in business administration. He is currently on the board of the Minot Family YMCA, project manager for the City of Minot’s Community Stakeholders Committee and was appointed to the State Board of Higher Education by Governor Burgum. He has served on the board of Trinity Health and as a past chairman of the Minot State University Board of Regents.

Brent Mattson was promoted to senior vice president at First Western Insurance. Mattson has resided in Minot the past 14 years. He is a graduate from the University of North Dakota. Mattson is involved in a variety of organizations in the Minot community; Trinity Health, Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch, and Norsk Hostfest. He has been with First Western Insurance for 5 years and has more than 25 years of experience in the financial industry.

Eric Mueller was promoted to assistant vice president collections officer at First Western Bank & Trust. Mueller is a native of Nebraska, who graduated from Seward High School and the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in finance. He has been with First Western Bank & Trust since October 2016.

Kristi Bertsch was promoted to vice president insurance placement & bonds, at First Western Bank & Trust. Bertsch is a Minot native, who graduated from Bishop Ryan High School. Bertsch has been is involved in insurance industry for 28 years, mainly focusing on commercial lines insurance & bonding. Bertsch started working for First Western Bank & Trust in the insurance department in June 2013.

Jim Paszek was promoted to senior vice president, trust department manager & chief risk officer with First Western Bank & Trust. He previously worked as a bank examiner with the State of North Dakota and joined the bank’s trust department in 1996. Paszek graduated from North Dakota State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in business administration and a minor in economics. In the Minot community, Paszek serves on advisory board for Salvation Army, American Legion, and Companions for Children. Paszek is succeeding former trust manager Chris Lamoureux who was promoted to executive vice president and still remains active in the administration and investment management functions of the trust department.
