Oceaneering announces Rod Larson to become CEO

HOUSTON – Oceaneering International Inc. recently announced that Roderick Larson, who currently serves as Oceaneering’s president, has been designated to succeed M. Kevin McEvoy as CEO on May 5.

Larson has served as president since February 2015 and is expected to continue in that role as CEO. He previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from May 2012 to February 2015. Prior to joining Oceaneering, Mr. Larson was with Baker Hughes Incorporated for more than 20 years, where he held various positions. He currently serves on the board of Newpark Resources Inc.

Oceaneering is a global provider of engineered services and products, primarily to the offshore oil and gas industry, with a focus on deepwater applications. Through the use of its applied technology expertise, Oceaneering also serves the defense, entertainment, and aerospace industries.

According to online sources, Oceaneering has been involved in numerous projects that made international news, including:

– Recovering the solid rocket booster that contained the faulty O-ring that caused Space Shuttle Challenger to explode in 1986.

– Recovery of the airplane cockpit voice recorder in the loss of ValuJet Flight 592 in early 1996. In the days following the loss of TWA Flight 800 later that same year, Oceaneering was contacted to provide ROV support to the US Navy lead search and recovery effort.

– In 2000, Oceaneering helped recover the Confederate submarine H. L. Hunley, which sank in 1864.

– On April 22, 2010, three Oceaneering ROV crews on board the Oceaneering vessel Ocean Intervention III, the DOF ASA Skandi Neptune, and the Boa International Boa Sub C began to map the seabed and assess the wreckage from the Deepwater Horizon oil spill.

Rod Larson, who was born and raised in Minot, attended Minot High School, and earned an engineering degree at North Dakota State University has been designated to succeed M. Kevin McEvoy as Chief Executive Officer of Oceaneering International, Inc., on May 5. Oceaneering is a global oilfield provider of services and products primarily to the offshore oil and gas industry.
