Meet the artist: Name: Lori Lashman
Current Hometown: Granville
Where can we see your work?
You can see my work at my shop, Antiques Art & Angels which is located on our farmstead six miles north of Granville.
How would you describe your style?
I capture country living and I am blessed to see such beautiful scenery every day. The past two years I have infused scripture into my work. It is really God’s work that I am photographing so I thought it was fitting to have his WORD in my photos.
Who would you say have been influences on your work?
To be honest, God.
Are there particular themes you like to explore in your work?
Sunrises, sunsets and country living are the ones that really speak to me. Of course, I have a special love for the ones I take of my family and our three grandchildren.
What do you most enjoy about the creative process?
I enjoy making memories for myself and others who look back at the photographs. The world is so digital these days, seldom are photos printed and really enjoyed. A picture speaks 1000 words is cliché but it is so true. I have given many gifts of my photography to people who have told me how much it meant to them. For my in-laws’ 50th anniversary, I gave them a collage of photos that I had arranged and framed with the family name “Lashman Ranch 50th Anniversary”on it in rope. I had taken the photos over the years of their cattle and family members and friends working on the ranch. After I had given that to them they told me they sat out on their deck all night just staring at it and enjoying the stories it told. Life was way too busy to capture those moments in their lives on the farm. It was the first time they really got to look back and relive the memories that the pictures gave them. My father-in-law passed away shortly after that and knowing how much that gift meant to him, meant the world to me.
Tell us a little about yourself.
My husband and I raise cattle, we have two grown children and three beautiful grandchildren and they all live close by. Photography has been my passion for as long as I can remember. The last 30 years I have had so many beautiful things in my life to photograph, every day is a blessing and for that I am forever grateful.
