Acoustic soul & hip hop in the Magic City
Acoustic soul and hip-hop performances will be featured throughout the Magic City tonight as Hey Soul Sister performs acoustic covers at Ebeneezer’s Eatery & Irish Pub at 8:30 p.m. and by rising rap stars Taiyamo Denku and Jantzonia performing at the Blue Rider at 9 p.m.
Audiences are quickly embracing the acoustic stylings of Hey Soul Sister, a Magic City duo that expresses dynamic vocals, striking musicianship and exceptional harmony.
Formerly from the popular band and local sensation Even5, the musical tandem of Eve and Kim, known as Hey Soul Sister, remain members of the hometown quintet.
True to their top-40 roots, Hey Soul Sister continues to cover pop classics, rock anthems and country favorites while providing an acoustic twist.
“Our shows are more intimate,” Eve said. “When you break down a song to its bare bones, you really get to the emotion of the music.”
As Hey Soul Sister captures the hearts of listeners by way of acoustic soul, hip-hop masterminds Taiyamo Denku and Jantzonia will immerse crowds with their blend of hypnotic rhymes and hard-hitting 808’s.
Hailing from Milwaukee, Taiyamo Denku is dubbed “King of collabs” for his remarkable versatility and impressive artistry with industry professionals including Baby Sham of Flipmode Squad, Chino XL and Keith Murray and Jadakiss amongst many notable artists.
During the set, Taiyamo Denku will showcase hits from his latest album, “Plant The Seed.”
Alongside the “King of collabs” will be Grand Forks rapper Jantzonia, a fan favorite and rising talent of North Dakota’s hip-hop scene.
Recently, the Grand Forks performer released an album titled “The Greenway,” which features his latest single “Take it Away.”
